If you listen to our podcast, The Detroit Sports Show, you know we do a weekly football pick’em of six games in college football and pro football and track how everyone does throughout the season.
Chris Burke and Andrew Tomlinson came out of week one tied for first with a 5-1 record and Max DeMara is not far behind with a solid record of 3-3. With both Michigan State and Michigan playing cupcakes this week, this could be a tough week for all three players to pick against the spread.
College Footbal:
Michigan is hosting Akron and is favored by 37 points in what is a game that could be a huge blowout. This could be a hard game to pick since Shane Morris should see extensive time at quarterback with Michigan most likely jumping out to a big lead early.
Andrew, Chris and Max all take Michigan and the points.
Up in East Lansing, Michigan State is hosting FCS foe Youngstown State and is only favored by 24. Even though this line should be huge, MSU has struggled to move the ball on offense and thus are in real danger of not covering the points spread.
Andrew, Chris and Max are again all in unison and pick Youngstown State to cover the spread.
In the game of the week, Texas A&M is hosting Alabama and are actually a home dog with Alabama favored by eight points. Even with a Heisman winner under-center, A&M just haven’t proven itself enough in the SEC to be a favorite against Alabama.
Andrew and Max picked A&M cover, while Chris is taking Alabama.
NFL:
Your Detroit Football Lions travel to Arizona and are actually favored by two points. After a dominant running game last week and a solid defensive performance, Vegas seems to like the Lions in this game.
Andrew and Max again pick together and take the Lions, while Chris takes Arizona.
Last week the Green Bay Packers struggled mightily against the San Francisco 49ers, but get a bit of a reprieve with the struggling Washington Redskins team coming to town. Green Bay is favored by eight, but the big key to this game could be how RGIII plays.
Andrew and Chris take the Redskins and Max takes Green Bay.
In this week’s prop-bet pick of the week, we ask how many plays the Philadelphia Eagles will run this week. Philly ran 53 plays in the first half last week, but slowed down in the second half. That second half might be the reason the number of plays run is set at an over/under of just 80.5.
Chris and Max take the over, while Andrew takes the under.
